I think Ubuntu will be enough just to access the internet
2:If my windows is password protected, can someone boot with a Linux Live CD and access my files?.if yes how can i protect them
yes they can , All they need to is access the SAM and there are tools that can be used to crack this SAM fie to get your password. Im not sure you can do anything to protect that as if you mess with that file, you wont be able to login next time cos Windows will check that file for password and when its valid only, it will log you in
Answer #2

I’d say active boot disk is best for this purpose,It’s WinPE based
tho. Isn’t your HDD divided to 2 or more partitions? Ideally it’d be best
keeping your important data on a secondary partition
so when you need to re-format you won’t need
to back em up first.
If my windows is password protected, can someone boot with a Linux Live CD and access my files?.if yes how can i protect them
Yep,One can easily boot with a Linux/WinPE CD and have access
to your files,If you really wanna protect em you’d have to use
encryption,Truecrypt is best for that.
All they need to is access the SAM and there are tools that can be used to crack this SAM fie to get your password.
That would be incorrect,They wouldn’t need to crack/remove
his user account password at all as it has no correlation
whatsoever to the files themselves (Unless NTFS encryption is used)

if you forget the password, you can always reset the bios by removing the bios battery and replacing after a minute or two.

Manufacturers got wiser…The password get stored in a different chip than the bios..
And I am not sure why you bother if when you get the solution to your problem you go what if…There still around what they call pencil and paper you know.
