Computer reboots all of a sudden. HELP

May 26th, 2020

I ordered a computer from tigerdirect.com an iBuyPower “custom pre-build”. I got it out of the box, got it all set up, and started installing programs that I needed. I ~love~ you not, within 4 hours of use the thing rebooted all of a sudden and isn’t allowing me to actually get into windows any more. It just keeps rebooting. I haven’t even had this thing on for 4 hours. I haven’t overclocked it or done anything to the CPU settings. What the hell is going on here? It says on the reboot screen that I can allow it to try to fix the problems and that doesn’t even work. What can I do besides return it and get my money back? Im so smiling.
Answer #1
Try unplugging it, and open up the case, and remove the button battery. Press the power button a few times to make sure it drains all the power. Wait a few minutes and replace the battery then plug it back in and restart (just to make sure you didn’t screw up the bios). Although, it sounds like an over heating problem.

check bios put default settings . and also check the temp on the cpu see if its keeping it cool . (overheating|) its either bad/damaged cpu or its overheating .

okay well thank you for the info. i thought the same thing at first. so i downloaded everest to keep check on cpus. they are all staying low 40 celsius so that should be fine and not cause a reboot. when i got it started back i did the restore and i havent redownloaded anything i thought might have caused it. i believe what it was was avg 9. sounds wierd but since i havent installed it the system hasnt shut down yet and its been a few hours.

i doubt it was the download, sounds more like you may have had a brown out and it corrupted something vital in windows, keep it going and see if it reboots again, if it doesnt, try downloading a program designed to stress the machine (if your game enough to do it, i certainly am) and see if it reboots again.

I dunno it’s really weird like I said, running fine now so far… We did have a power outage I thought was caused by my computer a few hours ago, haha. It was doing the reboot thing and all of a sudden the power just blacked out for like 20 minutes. Freaked me out, I was like, uhhhhhhhhh. Could it have been from low power coming from the outlet?
EDIT: whats a good program to stress the machine and give me a read out?

Did it come with Windows pre-installed? Maybe that’s the problem. Reformat the hard drive and leave it sitting for awhile without installing Windows. If it reboots by itself again, it’s a hardware problem. Send it back to TigerDirect.
If it doesn’t reboot by itself again, then you know it’s an OS problem, so it’s just a matter of doing a fresh install.
Answer #8
Yea it was pre installed, and I think it is a windows problem. I just think that for some reason the AVG 9 installer had something to do with it, because I tried installing it twice and both times it caused it to go into fits of rebooting. So no more AVG for me.
Answer #9
it is an unusual problem, what windows os are you running?
Answer #10
windows 7. the AVG i was doing was an older hack i think. i used the downloader for the 9 version and used the keycode for the older maybe that cause it do mess up? Windows 7 didnt like the 8 year free AVG network edition? lol
Answer #11
i seriously doubt that it is a program, it could be something like a virus on installation which is sometimes found in antiviruses that wern’t downloaded off the main site. it is the case that occasionally people do this because most who will run the program wont have another antivirus installed except the m$ one and thats a joke.
Answer #12
I downloaded it straight from AVG. It ran for a few minutes or so each time. Updated and everything. Then, crash…
