Installing RAM.

Okay, So my laptop has 1Gb RAM. I Was wondering if i get the RAM Card from my old laptop and put it into my new one would this effect anything, Ive checked everything out and they have the exact same ram, and my Laptop can handle up too 4 Gb.
If i was to just take it out my old laptop and put it in the new one would my new one still run fine? Thanks
Also do i need to install ram? I know im a complete idiot

Yes it will be fine
just slot the card in next to the other and you dont need to install anything
