Iphone 3gs 5.0.1 want to downgrade baseband, have 4.1 ssh

I have been doing a lot of reading trying to catch up. I am doing this for a friend. I am stuck right now.
I have an iPhone 3gs with iOS 5.0.1 and Baseband of 05.16.05, I just jail breaked the iPhone and it actually has 4.1 saved as SSH.
Can I not make a custom firmware with the baseband of 4.1 on iOS 5.0.1 and be able to unlock?
I don’t know what Baseband went with 4.1 but I am sure they unlocked it a while ago??? TY!
U cant downgrade basebands irrespective of u having shsh or not.
Oh, fail!!!! So, basically if I don’t want to upgrade my baseband to the iPad, theres no way for me to unlock yet. Can you confirm? Thanks!
