Possibly Antivirus or security software blocking the update..

Possibly Antivirus or security software blocking the update..
Its a fresh install of windows and havent installed anti virus or firewall yet. Windows firewall was on but its turned off now.
Answer #3
There is a trouble shooting tool here and some suggestions that may help..
https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/gp/windows-update-issues/en-us
I presume your internet works OK and you can use Internet Explorer etc..
Answer #4
Post the contents of your %windir%\Windowsupdate.log online and link it here.
Windows Update is basically a http connection to a web server so things such as the wrong time/date, proxy server or web filtering can stop it working.
Answer #5
Thanks I ran the tool fixed a few things but not one. Heres a screenshot. Still no updates.

Well that’s a strange one The download of the updates completed but they were missing when it tried to installed. run this which will clear out the update cache and try to download them again.

Answer #8
ive already run that program told me about.
Answer #9
If the utility doesn’t work:
Stop Windows update service and manually remove the cache and the update files. After this restart the computer and try updating again.
On a command prompt
net stop wuauserv
rmdir %windir%\softwaredistribution  /s /q
shutdown -r

The reboot(the last command) may not be necessary. If you don’t want to reboot it, you have to type net start wuauserv
Answer #10
Control Pa > Region and Language > check setting are OK there.
Click on the Clock > Change date and time settings > and make sure that the Time and Time Zone settings are correct.
Go to Internet Time > Change settings.. > And see if the time will synchronize and Update OK.
Go to “Services” and make sure the “Background Intelligent Transfer Service” is there and ‘Started’.
Also the “Windows Update” service.
Something else, a clean restart..

The screenshot you posted did not work for me..Maybe got deleted.
Answer #11
I have tried both things and still nothing, was wondering if I should upgrade to windows 10 and maybe updates might work on it?
Answer #12
Can you try issuing?sfc /scannow
So, deleting the Windows update folder didn’t do anything. Updating to Windows 10 will rebuild the core components and have this problem fixed…
You can use the Windows media creation tool to directly update your installation.
Answer #13
Does anyone know what else might fix this Windows 7 Ultimate to get updates?
Answer #14
Hi,
Since you replayed few days ago having the same issue I will suggest a fix.
Use Windows 7 Loader v1.7.9 like you did before, just undo the activation.
Then try to update and see if it works.
In case it doesn’t – Use Removewat to activate windows and try again.
It been tested and verified.
Please keep me updated with results.
Answer #15
In windows loader v1.7.9 I pressed uninstall and pressed ok and it says a error – bootsect.exe application error – this application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application – then press ok then another error – Installation error – An error has been logged to the systems event log.
Can you help?
Thanks
Answer #16

Answer #19
I have had this happen to me once before.
Run the command prompt as admin. Search for CMD and then right click run as administrator. (Windows 10 just hit WinKey+X)
Type the following command and switches:
wuauclt.exe \detectnow \updatenow
You can also then try running:
sfc /scannow
See if any errors were found. These are just some troubleshooting steps.

Got the file thanks, ran removewat did a reboot and in system properties at bottom no activation info. Ran windows update and still “checking for updates” ?

Did you run the command and switches I provided in the above post? This may help you.

Answer #24
the command with detectnow starts a check for updates.
switches mean those /??? .
EDIT:
Although that might sound weird.
If you still get an error, please screenshot it.
Right after that, use removewat again to restore it, then update again.
Answer #25

Answer #26
Could you please add the content of the log file? Also it recommended a restart.
I will replay again tomorrow, bed time.
Google please for awhile and try what I asked before.
Answer #27
I found in view update history ( update for windows KB971033 ) which I’ve googled and found this page saying “That update checks if you have a LEGAL copy of windows installed, if not this update will de-activate your copy. ”
I am going to give up now I think I should be ok without all the updates as my computer runs ok anyway.
Answer #28
Yea, I never had any problem with it when using removewat.
I have it installed..
Answer #29
Try restoring WAT and update again please.

I have had this exact same problem recently on installs using the exact same disc and then I had an epiphany. Do you remember when the first question asked for updates was “windows needs to install current version of Update Agent” before other updates? It doesn’t do that anymore. . Go here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/949104 install latest update agent.Nothing else required!
Answer #31
Put your windows disk in again, and just click on repair. It should find the problem and fix it for you. I had a problem with updating and thats what I did, it worked.
Answer #32
Open CMD As Admin & Execute these command:
net stop wuauserv
rmdir %windir%\softwaredistribution /s /q
rmdir %windir%\system32\softwaredistribution /s /q
regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 /s atl.dll
regsvr32 /s wups.dll
regsvr32 /s wups2.dll
regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll
regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll
net start wuauserv
Reboot & Update windows.
