LCD VGA Resolution Problem, help gladly appreciated!

October 16th, 2013

Hey guys! I’ve been experiencing this problem for a while with my Element LCD TV. I have it hooked up to my PC as a second display and for some odd reason it would only display half of my content (on the right side) and not all of it. The current way I can fix this issue is to keep turning it off and turn it back on, and it will finally display all the content (left and right side being equal) with 1440 x 900.
I should also add when I turn it on it will become distorted (having all content on right side) and then it will automatically fix it self. Any ideas on how I can fix this? It’s not a big deal, but it is sometimes really annoying. Thanks!

Might be a driver issue?

You would’ve been better off getting a better brand. Some people who have bought this TV have had issues with it. If you don’t want a big TV you could’ve gotten a Samsung 19 inch TV or one that is both a TV/monitor. Do you only have problems when you use the TV as a monitor? When you use it just to watch TV do you run across any problems? Try unplugging the TV from the monitor and then connecting it again and see if the issue persists. I would also suggest that you use HDMI if possible. Maybe you can use a DVI connection if you don’t have HDMI because it will give you better quality than a VGA connection. I had the issue you have when I was using a VGA connection. The problem went away when I used an HDMI cable.

Well I’m using a spiltter VGA into DVI. It has 2 VGA ports and the DVI part goes into the videocard. It looks just like this: http://~ Due to the increase in Phishing, we now disallow protected URLs ~/2T6vg
I thinking perhaps that could be the problem? The good news is the TV does have HDMI port; however, not sure if my computer and videocard does.

It could well be the vga cable/connection causing this. do you not have another vga cable to test?
If just turning the screen off and on solves it then that pretty much rules out any driver fault.
If you want to hook it up via Hdmi then you can get a dvi > hdmi connector and use a normal hdmi lead.
