how can i install xp on sony vaio cs series on sata frive
Answer #1
What’s the model?
Answer #2
Yes, as long as you get the SATA drivers and use NLITE to slipstream them onto the CD
Answer #3
Looked around Sony’s support page and all versions of their CS models seems to use Intel Matrix SATA. Here’s the link. Download it. Double clicking on it should extract the drivers somewhere.
ftp://download.sony.com/US/pc/INDOTH-15263700-XP.EXE
Download nLite
http://www.nliteos.com/
Download a good untouched version of XP SP3 (search on this forum)
– Extract the ISO to a new folder and point nLite to the extracted folder
– Select integrate drivers and bootable CD from the menu
– Next
– Click on insert on the drivers page. Browse for the .inf file from the extracted SATA drivers. Select text mode
– The driver should be visible in the list. Click next. Make a bootable ISO or burn it and install from it.
Note: before attempting to install go to the Sony eSupport page and download all the required XP drivers for your model as you will not have internet right after formatting to download them.

if you have issues with this, try one of the modded xp’s, such as tinyxp or microXP, as they all have Sata drivers slipstreamed to the iso already.
Answer #6
thanks alot 2 everyone i got it working with #da recommendation
but if i may…. were can i get the drivers for xp
Answer #7
That’s pretty tricky. You need to either contact Sony support and see if they’ll help or manually find out what drivers you require. Download Everest Ultimate from this forum. It will tell you what kind of hardware you have. It’ll be up to you to Google and download them. Note that some drivers may not exist yet alone work for XP as the product was designed for Vista
