Where to purchase a phone in the US?

I’ll be traveling from Iceland to Chicago for attending a conference next month and am planning to purchase a phone during my visit as my recent grand old LG P990 Optimus 2x decided to threw in the towel a week ago. The phone I’m dreaming about is unfortunately not available in my country and I’d rather not risk purchasing a fake one (and often with no warranty at all) from e.g. Taiwan if possible. I’m a total newbie within the field of shopping electronics in the US and would therefore like to ask for your advice and kind help.
Which price comparison site is the most popular, comprehending and accurate in the US? How could I find out if there’s any physical store in Chicago that actually has an Asus Padfone E A68M Dual-SIM (preferably with black color) in its assortment and in stock next month? In case I in the best scenario manage to bring a phone home, will it be possible to insert my current SIM-card and will it work with an Icelandic provider?
