using VPN to buy games cheaper

January 26th, 2020

Has anyone ever done this and does it work ?
I am in the uk but i set my VPN to america and when i go to a certain site,to buy a key it does not add the VAT that i have to pay,as im basically in a different location.
But when i go though to pay – it will be from an UK account – will this matter ??
All i want to know – will it work or not – dont want to waste money if not.

It works correctly and doesnt matter where you pay from. Ive done a game I bought from Russia through steam and was then able to transfer it to my Aus account. Heres the site I usually use which made me do that once.. Maybe they will have an equivalent cheap game where you dont have to use the VPN though??.. http://www.cdkeyhouse.com/
Doing this isnt even illegal to do.. It is frowned appon from game sellers, but say Aus has the most expensive games in the world, the one I got was a Call of Duty and was retailing at say 90-100$ at the time in stores here or bought over steam from the Aus site. But I got it for say 20$ after taking into account the Russian money conversion.. They say games in Aus cost more due to shipping etc, but given a lot of peps buy and download games over the net its kinda criminal that in one country the game can be sold legitly for 1/5th of the price…

Be careful not to buy games which are actually region locked to PLAY them! not just activate. I made the mistake of buying GTAV on Steam, got a cheap Russian key, and turned out I would need to have VPN active every time I play it, and this, I have read could get you banned from Steam.
But games that just need to be activated once on VPN, those are no problem.

CD key house actually has icons to let you know where how and why. Region dependent for instance.

I used to use G2A, their protection is good and they do complete refunds, the shield.
GTA V is one of those games that got revoked after awhile, due it being a gift, but I got my refund.
These days I just buy a physical retail if I want to play it badly, or WBB. Denovo kind of slowed things down a bit.

yeah i know about region locked games but thanks
My whole reason behind this is so i get my steam games at same price as american gamers because the UK adds vat onto any sale here.

This is why we are recommending 3rd party payments. Or you could do like I do, if you know someone in the USA use their address.

just brought my first game – it seemed to work kk
Shattered Skies 24.55 GBP if brought in the UK
if brought in US – then its $24.99 which equates to = 17.0491 GBP A saving of nearly 8 GBP
