Unlocking iPhone 3GS 3.1.2

October 22nd, 2016

Hey everyone,
I just got my new iPhone 3GS and have a few questions about the unlock.
Ive read that blacksn0w does it but does it work on 3.1.2? Are there any consequences to unlocking the iPhone?

You should upgrade with custom firmware (I don’t know if this is necessary, I did it at first and it worked for me)
http://www.google.com?t=4314671&highlight= Then download Blackra1n http://blackra1n.com/
Connect your device, close iTunes, Click Make it rain
When it did make it rain, your device will reboot and you’ll have a Blackra1n icon
Click on it, install Cydia and Rock (if you want to) and there will be one other Blacksn0w
Install that one and you’ll iPhone will be unlocked.
You might have you check your Bootloader but try this and report back

ok great I’ll check it out and report back as soon as I’m done.

I checked it out, I directly ran blackra1n. It works fine, but it’s teathered…meaning that everytime I turn it off (which I never do), I have to plug it back in and “make it rain” again so that it works again…
Is yours teathered as well?

With unlock this might be normal because of your Baseband or Bootloader. Mine isn’t because I have a version of iPhone that’s been released quite a while ago (since it just came to market…) So my baseband and bootloader are an old version. Yours might have an newer version of Baseband or Bootloader.
That’s what I think, don’t know for sure. I’ll look around and let you know.

If your ipt2/3GS/ipt3 is rebooting into recovery after running blackra1n, this isn't a bug. It's a feature. You need to run blackra1n every time to boot it. This 'feature', called tethered jailbreak, is enabled by upgrades Apple made to the bootrom and the fact ipt3 uses nand flash.
says about it on there.
EDIT: at least i think that’s what you were talking about. sorry if i’m wrong..
Answer #6
found it before me. I found the same site. But that makes me wonder why isn’t mine tethered??Oo
Answer #7
