Sudden Latency Spikes

January 30th, 2020

Hello everyone!
As title says I have problem with sudden Latency Spikes, while I was gaming I jumped from 35-50ms to 200ms and up to 2000ms for about 10 seconds, and then back to normal again, its repeating pretty often and at random.
I am in the UK and I have Virgin Internet 50/3Mbit, using their Router as well. I am on desktop PC on cable.
Here are some information that I don’t understand that much, hopefully it will tell something to you!
If not, ask me and I will try provide!

These informations are not enough to establish the cause. It can be an ISP problem or a faulty network card or modem/router…
Answer #2
There is enough info.. It isnt a problem with your router or your ISP. Once you leave your ISP’s servers you hit a slower one (yahoo servers) which slows all done.. All you can try is a different DNS.. But likely hit the same server any way. Other then that you can say connect to a VPN and you probably would then miss the server which is slowing you down. Heres a free VPN if you wanna give it a try..

call your Virgin Internet provider
in your first screen, the ping to one or 2 of virgin’s hops timed out. The issue is with virgin internet. Since it is their router,
they should be able to fix it. Might even be the router? The first hop to yahoo is lagging, but most likely the cause of the prior timed out hop.
That should be your first place to eliminate is Virgin Media or whatever it is called in uk.
* = timed out (this should not happen)
your ping to google looks fine

Thank you for all your help, I will definitely try to sort this out with Provider, I am actually getting an upgrade soon, together with their new router + I a m finishing up my new build on PC,
so hopefully I can sort this out as I want to do some Gaming Streaming, so far these lag spikes are very annoying while gaming, it happens too often.
