Steam startup problem

August 5th, 2016

When I start Windows I get an error that says:
“Source
Only one instance of the game can be running at a time”
It lets me hit ok then goes away. I tried reinstalling steam with no luck and it is not listed in my startup items. I also used Autoruns to check other start items and cannot find it.
Any ideas?

Okay there is a workaround for it, read it care fully!
Shutdown steam and go to the folder where you installed Steam and all your games:
C:\Program Files\Steam
rename it in:
C:\Program Files\_Steam
Go to software and deinstall steam, dont worry if you rename the steam folder your games are safe.
After that rename it back to:
C:\Program Files\Steam
Download and Install steam in the same directory like it was before.
That fixed it for me.
