Shipping from the UK

June 23rd, 2021

Hi,
I have an item with someone from the UK, and I want it shipped to my country (Israel). The item is a smartphone, and it costs 270 pounds.
What is the best way of doing that with the least pocket damage ?? I’ve heard about ways where you pay the shipping costs plus $20 for customs insurance (which means if there are taxes be paid, the company will handle it). How they do it ?? I really don’t care.
I really want to avoid paying the import taxes… so if someone is going to smuggle something from the UK into israel in the near time, please do tell

I reckon if you are going to do something illegal that you shouldnt post it on a semi public Bulletin Board.

What are you talking about, this topic is about looking for a shipment company… the second part is just a joke, I thought that was obvious… ow well, I love Palestine too
Answer #3
I’ve reported you to the authorities. They gonna get you now boy ?
When shipping items you always have a chance it won’t go through customs without taxing you. It’s kinda lotto when it comes to that. It would help if your name was shlomo or something though.

Isn’t Israel part of the EU at least in what is regarded as trading? From wiki:
Under the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement, the EU and Israel have free trade in industrial products. The two sides have granted each other significant trade concessions for certain agricultural products, in the form of tariff reduction or elimination, either within quotas or for unlimited quantities.
Translation: No custom taxes for electronics. Main article:

Because they already know there are not going to be any taxes?

you can ask the person in the UK to post VIA the royal mail 1st classed signed for, it should have insurance so if your item breaks, get’s lost or doesn’t arrive, you’ll get a replacement or £500. I done this when I sold my iPad Air, I sent it 1st class recorded with insurance and it was valid for £500. like I said, if it get’s lost, broken or doesn’t turn up, you win. win win either way.

If I remember correctly, to send it 1st classes recorded delivery, it was £8.40 but that was because of the weight. it MAY be more for you though because it’s another country. Google is your friend though.

Sending it via Royal mail does not mean it won’t be charged customs. The compensation offered is only if something happens to the item on transit…
Answer #10
^you’re right.
I’ve never sent abroad so have no idea what charges you have but surely it can’t be much. if it was a car and the weight on it, that’s a different story but what you have is a phone so IMO it won’t be much.

Send it International/Signed for with sufficient insurance cover. Get the sender to complete the Customs declaration with “Replacement Under Warranty”
(ie – you have already paid the import taxes when you bought it the first time.)
I get Chinese sellers to do this on all goods TO the UK, and most other sellers around the world, 99% of American sellers I ask to do it are too afraid to.

If it’s sent as a repaired or 2nd hand used phone the customs won’t look at it so closely. I send records and CD’s all around the world, they are all second hand and I never complete any customs forms. I just write the contents on the back of the envelope such as ‘Used music CD in plastic case’ or ‘Used 12″ vinyl record’ and I’ve never had any customer come back at me about customs duty etc.
