October 24th, 2017

Hi,
I’m looking a new motherboard. Preferably a cheap one.
It has to have:
DDR3
SLI
Intel quad core support
I would like it if it had:
I7 support
An ide port, for the harddrive’s i still have.
Thank you

You find any motherboards for the above recommendations.
You could get the XFX 760i DDR3 Mobo. But this doesnt support i7.
Answer #2
Asus P6T Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

Let me try again:
The cheapest mobo with the above requirements available

DDR2 a lot cheaper?Indeed it’s a lot cheaper and DDR3 with it’s 4x FSB bandwidth might actually restrict you when overclocking Core 2’s. For example a DDR3 1333MHz will have the FSB of 333.3 which is equal to DDR2 667 MHz in terms of FSB along with the higher latencies that come with DDR3. It will be better on your performance and on your wallet going for DDR2 in your situation.
Answer #8
Owkey, going for ddr2. You would recommend me i7, right?
Answer #9
If i7 then you need DDR3. Btw an i7 build will cost you roughly $300 more.
Answer #10
God damned
Will i7 cost me 300$ more for the mobo or 300 extra for a complete system?
Answer #11
Complete system. If it’s just gaming you’re after and not doing stuff like video encoding a good C2Q is just fine.
Answer #12
Owkey, thanks for all the help.
Now my original question: Help me choose a good mobo
DDR2
Quad core
SLI
As cheap as possible ^^
Thanks again!
Answer #13
Pleas you guys i’m always helping people here on helpdesk, but now I need some help..
Answer #14
Look at these two I posted them as they both have two IDE headers most others have only one.
I think they both have the other features you wanted.

Why don’t you just go to Newegg, select the options you need in the search, then sort by rating or price…?

Seems to be a pretty well-reviewed board, at a good price. If you’re happy with its specs, I’d say go for it.
Answer #18
well, you’ll have to choose between a i7 or a quad core, they have different sockets so you can’t have both cpu’s on one mobo.
the mobo I find gives the best price/prestation for LGA775 is the asus P5Q(or variation of it), the P6T is a very good one for socket 1366 & will handle an i7 & can use DDR3.
about the motherboard you’ve found, I’ve had an asrock once & I’m never gonna use one again, had really bad support with it. but that’s just me.
Answer #19
Better go with ASUS P5Q-Pro
