RAM Upgrade info – SOLVED

January 28th, 2018

Hi guys,
I have an ASUS K52F with 3GB of RAM. I want to upgrade to the max 8GB allowed. I was wondering, is this RAM compatible with my laptop?

Thanks in advance,

The specs list :
Memory
DDR3 1066 MHz SDRAM, 2 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion up to 8 G SDRAM

the one you have selected is :
NUOVO Crucial CT2C4G3S160BMCEU 8GB (2x4GB) CL11 SO-DIMM LV
looks good … 2x 1600 SO-DIMM
EDIT :
strike that , just seen that the laptop supports 1066MHz, your selection is 1600MHz … not sure if it’ll work, but ASUS ususally goes with higher speeds

Thanks for replying. If that is too many MHz for my laptop, what about this

It says 1066 MHz. But it says MAC. Will it work on my laptop as well?

Your laptop should be able to use DDR3 PC3-10600 1333Mhz
Don’t know if this is available from your local Amazon, but it’s the specs to look for.

What you have now it’s 1066MHz at 1.5V. The one you listed will not work because it’s 1.35V.
See something like this. tried to find one on the italian amazon but couldn’t because a lot not list the voltage which means you will have to contact the sellers. Good luck mate. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-DDR3-SODIMM-Memory-Module/dp/B008PK37I4
Answer #9
You will need 3 ram modules not 2. There are no 1,5 GB modules and you have 3 GB ram. Actually 3 ram slots is common on notebooks. So choose modules of 2GB =6GB ram or 4GB =12GB ram. 6GB should be enough.
Unfortunately tho BIOS is often a weak side of notebooks and it likely will not support any brand and model. You may have to try out.
Answer #10
Lol . His laptop has 2 slots. Almost all laptops have 2 slots. If he wants 8gb he has to remove the old sticks and get 2 new one. Also brand is irrelevant you just need to match the voltage. Speed it’s just so you run at max possible but still irrelevant. https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/K52F/specifications/

Would this do?

It says 1.5v, 1066MHz. But it says MAC. Could I use that on a PC? Are they interchangeable?
Answer #12
Yes it should be fine. Mac ram is the same as pc ram, the only difference is that it is tested to be compatible with a mac and they usually put a premium on the price because of that.
