So I should buy 2x 2GB DDR2 PC2 6400 of the same brand? 400 or 800MHz?
Answer #4
Yup, 2 x 2G, 800 Mhz.
You might actually be better off saving the money and updating the whole system, that’s quite outdated.
For not too much you could have an modern system
About (Australia prices) – $120 for Mb, $90 for 4G ram or $120 for 8G, i5 or i7 for about $200..
Answer #5
I’ll have a look for second hand RAM, what’s the difference between SO DIMM 200-pin and DIMM 200-pin? Which one should I go for?
Answer #6
you should be after the SODIMM as they’re for lapbooks. DIMM’s are desktop.
Answer #7
I’ve bought 2x2GB used DDR2 RAM, what software should I use to test the RAM?
Answer #8
Memtest86 ?
Answer #9
Yes – insert them and boot to windows to make sure they are just recognised, “seen” by the bios and by windows.
Then boot to a cd or flash drive that has memtest on it (they have their own iso to make a boot cd with) and run it overnight.
