When you link your paypal account to your bank account, each time when you add more dollars to your bank account, does paypal account also adds up and updates?
Answer #1
No.
Answer #2
No, when you link a bank account, when you buy something and pay via Paypal, they then request it from your bank, can often take 3 days, so feasable to buy stuff even if you have no money in the bank (but know it will be there in 2 or 3 days).
You have less consumer protection funding via a bank account than VISA or Mastercard.

Are you saying that even if I don’t link my credit card to paypal I can still pay by linking my bank account?
I thought its only for transferring paypal balance to bank account

Paypal policy varies from country to country. Paying for purchases by directly debiting from you bank account is a facility which is not available to all countries. Better you check paypal policy page for your country.

Stopped using paypal. Paypal is crap. Asks for too much personal information and won’t even allow you to cancel an account unless you provide them with your SS#, a bank account, government ID, phone number etc etc etc. Shitty company. Better off just using a credit card.

So a credit card company doesn’t ask for personal info? That is one of the silliest complaints I have ever heard. Some things require personal info no matter the company. Specifically, financial companies.

Credit Card company… im borrowing money from them, i build up a credit history, i earn rewards, i can cancel my membership anytime… granted u can have my SS and just my SS and an address… no need for another bank account or further requirements or forced membership fee
Paypal… charge me a fee for signing up, not gonna be borrowing any money from your shitty company (only intended to use my own credit card to make payments through their service since there are many companies out there using paypal payment system), wont let me cancel if i wanted to, so my bank and credit card is store on on their server til the ends of day unless i provide all the require documents, among other stuff…. again paypal is shitty… and you’re silly

Bullsh*t. Paypal doesn’t charge a dime for signing up. Adding bank account is also optional. You have to either add your bank account OR credit card for verification. You can even leave your account unverified and still receive money.
You can also remove/edit your bank account and credit card details at any time. Paypal asks for the bare minimum info required to verify your identity and some of these requirements are set by the governments of countries in which paypal operates. How else are they supposed to protect themselves from money laundering and scammers if they don’t have any info on you?
Paypal is a payment processor/payment gateway, not a credit card company. So you can’t borrow money from paypal.

cancel your current account, sign back up, and lets see if they charge you… like the stupid $1.95 charge which of course is refundable but you would need to go through extra and minimal but incovenient step to get the refund back. if don’t they basically take that money from you… add that up to a few thousand users who wont bother with the extra step, paypal is making a fortune…
so no its not bullsh**… and yes you can borrow money from paypal, they have their own credit cards… but unless i use their credit card, they shouldnt be asking me for my SS# and all i have mentioned
i dont know about you but really? u consider bare minimum is SS#, address verification? phone number verification, legal name verification, date of birth verification, bank account and credit card verification is minimum? its enough for a full on identity theft assault
and the fact they wont even let you cancel your membership at your own will is already a bad business practice. they’re there to harvest your information. in this modern day era, information harvesting is valuable

Paypal don’t charge for opening an a/c. the only times they take money from you is when you are verifying a credit card/bank account, they take pennies, then return it when verified. They charge for sending money, but it is up to the sender who pays it, him or the receiver.
The info they ask for, is to verify you are the a/c holder, as any financial institution will do. I may not agree with some of their practices, but I would prefer to be asked a security question to prevent fraudulent use of my a/c.
They do occasionally leave a footprint on your credit file, I have been with Paypal since they started and not had any problems.

so thats what they call it? verifying? u would fall for that gimmick wouldnt you… u dont see legitimate retail companies verifying your card by charging ur card with a fee and expect u to come back to them with the 4 digit number seen in the transaction in order to get a refund
can you be any more obvious, yeah they dont charge u to open a paypal account but its pointless to have an account without either a credit card or bank account information associated with it now wouldnt it? but bsaically once u need to verify it, they make a charge to ur bank or credit card… what part of the basics are u guys not understanding from all of this? a charge is a charge… what part of that is so hard to comprehend…
it may be a small amount but we’re talking about thousands of users and it adds up.
if you’re happy with them and cant see the amount of private information you are handing off to them than by all means.
like i said, this company is crap, just cancel ur accounts, start a new one, and ull experience all thatve said. hell just add one credit card account after resigning up, and try to cancel it… the stupid company will not let u cancel period. it is their effort for them to gather as much information about you before you can close the account

Of course it is verifying – they are in effect providing you with credit until your funds reach them, which if by direct debit can be 3 working days.
What part of the few pennies charge is returned immediately upon verification do you not understand ? duhh
Also – it is verifying your billing address – a lot of E-bay sellers will not ship to unconfirmed addresses.
I would rather give my info to Paypal – I know what I am telling them. On the other hand, Google collects data about you, your surfing habits, almost everything you do – ever asked yourself why ? I highly doubt it is for marketing reasons.

Its a small amount (~$1) that gets refunded to you right away when you successfully complete the verification. Not a single penny from it goes to Paypal. If you think verification is too much of an annoyance, then don’t verify. It’s amazing some people like you will make an issue out of nothing.
Paypal has to do this verification because they can’t see you in person and check any of your original documents like the bank employees get to do.

Even your local bank has all this information about you. Why don’t you boycott them too? Dig a hole in your backyard and keep all your money there. Only buy from local shops with hard cash. Your personal information will be safe with you and the government of course.

I have also just remembered correctly, I used my bank a/c to fund Paypal when they first started, they paid the pennies in to my a/c, not withdrew. I also got to keep them.
It is only cards they will take a dollar or pound from, and when verified it gets refunded.

Exactly right. They deposit a small amount into your account and you have tell them how much it was to verify your account.
Some people will complain about anything….

what part of that sort of verification process is unnecessary do you not understand? duhh… when they first started their business this type of verification was never placed in place….
get my money back right away? yeah right…. i didnt get it back cause i didnt care for the little amount they charged… and if i had got it verified, i wouldnt be able to delete my account anyway since id need to submit more information… instead i called my credit card company, dispute the charge and cancel the card without a problem in order to get my card off their system… so yeah screw paypal
my point is that that’s a bad business practice they are doing. on the outside they call it verification but really, they’re making money from it as well
Answer #22
They have always verified a/c’s in this way, I am going back well over 12 years.
If you walk into a bank here in the UK and want to open a current a/c, you have to provide a passport – it’s called verification.
FFS – you don’t even need to open a Paypal a/c to pay by Paypal – you can just use any credit/debit card when purchasing (as long as it’s not linked to a Paypal a/c).
Why is it bad business practice – would you give someone credit without checking they were who they said they were ?
Of course they are in the business to make money, that’s the whole idea. They make the money from transaction fees.
Get real man, you sound like you are not even old enough to have a credit card anyway.
*Edit – why don’t you go and troll in your usual sections on the board and leave us in helpdesk alone.
