Omg help tried to upgrade to XP pro but

March 28th, 2021

I downloaded XP Pro from here and tried to install it but the setup failed and I couldn’t get into the computer, so
I installed my XP Home edition OP again and Its a whole new OP except I can see all the files in C drive but I cant access the programs. I now have 2 operating systems, one which is Home Edition which works and the other one is Professional where the setup is always being restarted when I go (I cant INSTALL it thats the problem)
What I need help is how do I make the programs accessible by this Home Edition operating system.. from the other operating system Like when I go to Microsoft Word in Home edition OP it says:
“This action is only valid for products that are currently installed”
and other programs it says:
“The parameter is incorrect”,
“………….Reinstalling the application will fix this problem” I hope some understand what I’m talking about, even though I cant explain it clearly..

Reformat your computer again. This time, a clean install. A clean install means that you have to boot the Windows XP cd in your CD/DVD drive. Format the C:\ partition where you want to install XP. Good luck.

I WANT ALL THE PROGRAMS FROM THE OTHER OPERATING SYSTEM WHICH CANT BE INSTALLED FROM CD FOR SOME REASON TO MY NEW HOME EDITION. I DONT WANT TO DELETE EVERYTHING AND DO A “CLEAN INSTALL”

Here’s my suggestion. Get Hiren’s BootCD, burn and boot from it. Then use the partitioning tools there to format your HDD completely and partition it according to how you want it. The get the XP Pro CD and boot from it. Install XP Pro on whichever partition you want and let the installation do it’s job. Then you should have a working copy of Windows XP Pro. Before doing it back up everything you need and get the right drivers for your system. Good luck mate ^_^
Edit: didn’t see your post. First of all there’s no need to shout (use caps), it’s unpleasant, at least to me. Secondly, I don’t really get what you’re trying to say but if you tried installing Windows XP Pro on a partition and failed it most likely made the partition somewhat unstable. It would be best to format it.

I have no choice but reformat my computer and save all the files on my ipod
Answer #6
if you mess around with new operating systems on your already setup pc, be prepared for the burn when it screws up. I.E. dont capshout at someone trying to help, and back up all your important work before installs.
if you have one operating system working, whats the problem with backing it up.
Now IF an operating system has failed to install correctly, or crashed mid-setup, you will most likely have to reinstall to fix it.
XP wasnt the most intelligently implemented install, and unlike vista it doesnt make a temporary cache of progress incase of a failed install.
Answer #7
Yes, do not upgrade XP or any other OS. You’re asking for problems if you do. It’s best to do a clean install.
Answer #8
Reformat to XP home and clean the files, then download a different version of XP PRO (with good feedback and replys to them) and try again.
