Need to help to compress music files

I need help to compress my audio files. So that i can store more music. I had seen few site providing music file with size with in few kB.
How they compress a song file of 4.5 MB to 225 or 300 kB without compromising the sound quality.
Please help me.

Till now I was doing this by reducing the bitrate and sampling rates.

Impossible to do without compromising sound quality. Only lossless compression like FLAC doesn’t compromise quality, all else does.

But FLAC supports only wmv extention. Trying for mp3.
May be after converting with a media convertor may help

You can’t ‘compress’ an MP3 even more. You can make it smaller by lowering the bitrate, but that compromises quality.

just use Imtoo all in one convertor..

Just about any audio converter should be able to reduce the bitrate for you.
In the output settings, just look for an option specifying the bitrate and change it accordingly

Yes, any converter like Xilisoft , Total, any… there are lots.
Now how to do it!!!..
Download it and see it yourself, it’s very easy. You’ll see all the options before output, just play with the setting for some time.

reducing the bitrate of an mp3 degrades the quality because data is actually removed from the file.
192kbps and above is transparent, meaning in a blind test most people can’t hear a difference. below this threshold, the sound degrades dramatically.
any audio conversion app can reduce the bitrate (and therefore the quality) of music, but it’s really not worth doing…
