motherboard does not recognize ram past 512mb

March 28th, 2021

Hi, im trying to upgrade this pc for my bro, he bought him a 1gb stick of ram but when i plug it into his mobo it only reads it as 512mb, the strange thing is even though i have a 1gb in the mobo by itself it reads it as a 512mb, according to the mobo specs it can support up to 2gbs, is it something wrong with the mobo bios, how do i make the pc recognize the new amount of ram?
its a IDOT ID-PCM7E PC2500 motherboard.
link to mobo info.

its his business pc so i dont know about flashing his bios.

Answer #1
Have you removed the old ram?
I don’t think you can use two different sized ram in a computer.
And what’s the spec on the ram?
