Is too much download segments bad?

August 2nd, 2016

Hello guys Let’s say that you will download a 7GB RAR file using the beloved Internet Download Manager and you have two options either you download it with 32 downloads segments or you download it with 2 downloads segments I’m not talking here about the resume function what I’m talking about here is the number of maximum connections I mean which options has the highest rate of getting a corrupted rar file? Thank you

combining with your other topic i can say a few things.
generally it is better to make single connection for a file and download 2-3 files at a time so you can maximize your speed and can evade the fluctuations.
for downloading with 32 connection , the file host must let it , i dunno any file host that lets it without premium. in basic downloading 1 file with 5 connections is same with downloading 5 files at a time with 1 connection for each. second one is generally better if you dont have an urgency for a specific file. or more connections can be used in a case where a normally fast file host is slow for some reason with 1 connection ; then you enable multiple connections for speed.
technically the more connections means more risk of file gets corrupt , when you download with 32 connections , the software you use need to join all those parts at the end of the download , it takes longer as the number of connections increase as well as the chance of file gets corrupt during the process. getting corrupt shouldnt be the real problem , real problem is ; with IDM rebuilding the file takes too much time and if you dont have a separate harddrive for downloads , it will constantly prevent you from doing things at the end of the each download , especially when the file is big such as 5gb ++.

Sometimes stuff is uploaded in multiple rar files because that is the way it was originally distributed via torrents..
