I’m sure this has been answered before. Compressing AVI

June 20th, 2019

I’m working with a 20 minute video and cutting clips out that range from 3 – 4 minutes however when I export them from Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 the video file comes out to a 700 MB avi (for the 3-4 min clip). Is there an easy way to compress these down so it won’t take forever to upload to youtube without sacrificing quality?
Thanks

Without sacrificing quality no. Something is always sacrificed when you compress something. Even if it’s hardly noticeable. I would look into the compressions like xvid, divx, x264, theora… etc Decide which one you want but I don’t know if youtube supports those. I know converting it to .wmv would make it smaller but it may look like crud.

It sounds like the video isn’t actually compressed. That size is about what it would be uncompressed.
You would have to check what formats uTube supports as I don’t know and don’t use it.

Yes, you are saving it as RAW uncompressed video which takes loads of space. Compress to XVID and you’ll be fine.

Thanks guys I’m using xilisoft converter and trying out a few different formats to see which one turns out best..
