How do I write protected micro sd card without using software?

January 31st, 2020

The point is that I don’t want to make it where the user can physically unlock it using that small switch. I want to be able to use a software to lock it.
Is there a program to make that possible?

I’m a bit confused…
In your title, it says that you don’t want to use software,
But then you say you do…

The way the sd card are designed can’t allow this. The switch is the only thing that can block read and write. The other solution is to put a block at system level, setting the permission of the sd to read only. This is a solution that depend on the system, so putting it in another PC will give the user full permission on it.

Is there a way to make it where upon loading it into any computer it will prompt for a password where only I will know it? I’m fine it they can format the drive, but the point is to keep the contents inside of the card unknown. I just want basic protection, nothing to sophisticated because if someone wanted to, they could break it easily I’m sure.

In this case yes, you can encrypt the content of the card so that only with the decrypt key the can read the contents. This still grant them the ability to format it but unless they know the key they can’t access the contents.
Answer #7
You can also use bitlocker to-go. (pw protected)
This is a built-in windows feature.
