However ive tried using universal shield and hide folders and although it restrict’s view of the files on the computer it still all appears on the TV. Anyone got any ideas?

Keep your pron on a different drive =(
Hidden is just an attribute of the file. The explorer will choose weather to recognize it or not, but files are always seen.
Answer #2
if the TV is linux based, then you can place a period/ dot . <—-
at the start of all the names of the files and they will be hidden by default.
I always collect the files I don’t want seen and encrypt/ password the folder with truecrypt
search truecrypt on google, works great for me

Any method like this, Truecrypt, stealthdisk etc will work as the TV won’t be able to read/mount the encrypted containers.
