Hard drive issue.

May 6th, 2021

Hi.I have a HP dv6 laptop.Sometimes when using it it becomes really slow and sluggish and I have to power it off and turn it back on after a while to become normal.I thought this was a Windows issue and I have reinstalled windows but the problem still persists. So I ran a Benchmark with HDTune and here is the result:

Can anyone tell me if my harddrive is failing or not?
If anyone needs further info, just tell me and I will post it.
Thanks a lot.

Smart status wise, It seems to be okay. 43C is not overly high for HDDs, No idea why it reports it as such!
You might wanna check it with Hard Disk Sentinel for verification.
That being said, The benchmark results don’t look that good!
The minimum read speed is painfully slow and sub-standard.
Run a benchmark this app and post a screenshot:

It’s obvious that your hard drive is slowing down at seemingly frequent intervals
Since you reinstalled windows, the problem either lies with the bios (check to see if there is a bio update for your laptiop) or your hard drive. Have you tried other hard drives in that laptop?
I don’t think it is your hard drive’s fault though.

Made a fresh install of Windows 7 and I haven’t encountered the issue since.
Hard disk sentinel reports it’s fine:

And here is the benchmark with ATTO Disk:
