Firefox font displays badly?!

December 11th, 2013

Hi,
Sorry for having to ask this, but it’s starting to get really annoying now.
On certain websites a font is being swapped for a bold italic font in my collection. I don’t get why this is happening. If I had any idea what the affected font was I would delete / reinstall it.
If it helps, I can link to a screen shot of the twitter homepage;

I hope someone can help

Ah, I’ve seen this before. I think it’s a Helvetica variant that some machines have installed, and FF uses the wrong weighting of. My suggestion is use something like Firebug to inspect one of the elements, look at what font it is, then uninstall that font if you don’t need it.

I am sure google will have your answer…

Thanks atomicphreak – never even heard of Firebug. Will give that a go!
Ihmed3, thanks for the help. Asked here because (after searching google) a lot of people who are asking the same question reinstall Arial and that fixes it. I have tried that fix, but it doesn’t solve my problem.
I’m certain the answer to my particular problem is actually answered on the internet, and google would eventually show me the answer, but I thought I might ask the community I belong to for help
EDIT:- I got the Firebug addon, saw what the displayed font was and deleted it – I don’t know if that’s the right way to do it, but it’s much more readable now as it’s using a lighter non-italic helvetica font
Thanks again atomicphreak!
