DVDRips package expectation

I collect a few shows and one of them being all the CSI’s
Since CSI-NY S09 was just released, I wait till the DVD version is released to download for my keeper collection and I have noticed all that’s out so far is .MKV

So my question I guess is; is it too early to expect an .avi release or is what we see pretty much what were going to see across the board with all TV series as they become available in DVDRips? More .mkv and less .avi?

.mkv generally (and I say this very loosely) tends to be a better rip but that comes with a larger file size. With bandwidth becoming less of an issue, size is becoming less of an issue. If you wait long enough, undoubtedly you’ll see an avi version.
