Driver problemo

July 30th, 2019

Hey everyone, I recently installed XP after first installing Vista on my machine. I actually had Vista bought for me with the PC so I just used the driver CD to install my wifi and graphics. However when I tried this on XP only the graphics driver actually worked so now I am without internet on my XP partition
Anyone know what to do?!

Answer #1
Find out what components they are via Everest or program like that, go to their sites and find the drivers on there.
Answer #2
But surely if the driver worked on Vista it should work on XP? Did you actually read my post
Answer #3
Vista has alot more support for “generic” hardware.
Additionally, you must have seen all the complaints about peoples hardware not working with Vista, in the reverse way, your vista drivers that you installed will work for the Vista OS, but you will still need to use (in some cases, such as your internet – which cant be considered generic) the original XP drivers.

Answer #5
No No No, drivers that were made for Vista do not (usually) work properly on Windows XP. Go to the manufacturers’ sites and download the proper drivers for your computer. Remember to download the ones for XP. Then transfer them to the other computer. If you don’t know which components are installed on your computer then software like Everest Ultimate, CPU-Z and GPU-Z should help you know which drivers to download. Another tip is that when you install XP or any other OS for that matter you should have the drivers prepared ahead of schedule, lest some driver isn’t installed and you end up with no internet at all. Good luck mate ^_^

But my Vista disc has drivers for XP and Vista which is why I don’t understand why it isn’t working. They are both installed on the same PC btw.

almost never
look in device mgr under vista for your network adapter and get the info for the hardware
then google “<hardware name> driver XP”
example : “intel 920c driver XP”

Well I got this:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&channel=s&hl=en&q=Intel%28R%29+82562V-2+10%2F100+xp+driver&meta=&btnG=Google+Search
Answer #9
did not mean for you to look-up the 920, that was an example of how to format the query for your network adapter that’s ID under vista device manager
Answer #10
Forgive my noobishness
