Can someone tell me what each thing means for the computer? because i dont want to keep on asking here with each post on craigslist on a computer that i think is good.
like what is (for example)ddr ram and all of the other specifications stuff and
like what version of that specific graphics card is good (for example) geforce 8800 is the best and geforce 7000 is average etc…
cause not every computer has the same graphics so list some graphics card and wat is average/best so far

DDR = a RAM slot
DDR < DDR2 < DDR3
Only RAM of that type will be able to fit in that slot. For example, DDR2 RAM can only fit into DDR2 slots.
With graphics cards, just look at whats new. The top cards at the moment are the Nvidia 8 series and the ATi HD3800 series.

It all depends on what you do with your Computer. That will dictate what is best for you. If you play games then you need the best and fastest Computer you can afford. That would include the best Graphics card and fast CPU to give the highest frame rates and resolutions you can get.
But if you only do word processing and browsing then a cheap low end graphics card and slower dual core CPU would be adequate.
Getting the latest/greatest graphics card would be a waste of money (and a lot of electricity) if you do nothing to require it.
The more memory you have the more that can be fit into it without having to continually copying it out to the hard drive (paging) which is very slow and slows down the PC.

It all depends on what you are building it for. DDR means the no. of page files the Ram can actually support.eg. The old 512 RAM supported say 512 MB of page files, but the 512DDR RAM supports 1024 page files and its faster (as far as i know).
Graphics card:
Well, 8800 is good, and the 7 series is now not and average card any more. An average card would me an 8600GT. Just tell me what is your budget and what the purpose of the computer is for.

Basically this is whats up in he’s own words Most of my folders i have them set so i can “View – List” When i log on the next day all the folders are set to “View – Details”. Why does it keep changing back to view by Details?
As for “Sort By”.. Some i like to “Sort By – Name” while others (mainly my music files so i know which ones i’ve recently added) i choose to “Sort By – Date Created”. When i log on the following day all have reset to “View – Details” & “Sort By – Name” & the “Date Created” option i added has been removed so i then have to go to “Sort By – More..” & re-check the box all the time.
This is so annoying as i have all my single tracks sorted by label. Each time i add a track to that label i have to keep changing the “View” & “Sort By” thing. Can anyone help please???

Hey TV (BC here), change folder to required liking than open folder options in control pa, click view tab, and it should give the option to apply to all folders (not used 7 in a while, so slap my ass if I’m wrong), not sure on changing individual folders though.

F & O, just kidding,,,,,,,,I get what you are trying to achieve now, no idea unless any of that media software actually works, about 12 months ago I had a jumbled up scenario and got smiling off and deleted everything, apart from the odd game for the kids I haven’t really downloaded since.

I have a mp3 file of about 100MB’s from; H�tel Costes – Volume 5. I would like to split this in seperate songs. I don’t have the cue file or time stamps. Is there a way I can create this on my own. Where can I find the time stamps/ track lists? Or maybe a place where I can download the cue file seperatly. Or maybe there is an app somewhere. I know for exampel mp3tag can download this information from music databases, maybe there is a way I can create a CUE file with this?

Many times my Computer freezes and have to restart it………after restarting it does not show my disk drive… So i need to turn off the power for few seconds and then only the drive gets detected Scandisk on C: i.e Boot drive doesnt show any error……….
is there any software to scan and remove disk and file errors?

Before checking for Hardware problems have you upgraded your Graphics Card Drivers lately because I remember an old Card of mine gave me these type of problems then I upgraded and they went away.

If these do not correct your problem, partition your hard drive (or use a external USB drive). . . Then save all that you want to those, the other partition or to the USB drive. . . Use Driver Genius or Driver Magician to save all the drivers on your system. . . Then reformat and re-install windows. . . . It is easy to do, and likely will solve your problems

Probably a virus. Just go get a scanner like Nod 32 and you should come across from either 1 to hundreds of infections.

If your PC seems that weak, i suggest booting into Safe Mode, updating all the necessary software such as Ad-Aware, NOD32 and also downloading CCleaner, disconnect the internet (in-case keyloggers and such, i would do that tbh) then scan your PC completely with all 3 programs. Slow downs might be because of a huge amount of spyware/adware and a lot of registry errors.
but then again, it might be your hard-disk! so do these scans first, if it doesn’t work out then there’s a chance it would be in your hardware.

My Lenovo ThinkPad R61i laptop’s processing speed is 1.66GHz (Core 2 Duo T540).
However, when I take out the battery, it clocks down to 0.997Ghz, which makes it terribly slow.
Is there any way I can make it clock back up to the normal 1.66GHz on battery?

Well actually it ‘Steps’ down the processor speed to conserve the battery life but it will ‘Step’ back up to 1.66GHz when you are using the processor, say loading up and using Microsoft Word. The Technology is call ‘SpeedStep’ by Intel

However, my laptop permanently “Steps” down to 997MHz (until the battery is back in) with the battery out and running on A/C power. This is despite the processor being on 100% load with multiple programs running.
Is there a way to disable “SpeedStep” so I can have my laptop at optimum performance on A/C power?

Yes and no in your situation it would be no. In your bios probally f2 you will see different options. When you find speed step just disable it save changes and reboot. Good to go.

if you turn the lappy off while in the bios it discards changes
so if your not sure about something just turn it off and start over

I have only V on map, but there is no mission, only Safe House. How to get last mission?

I forget where but the last mission is at the safe house, check the bar area, first right when you enter the mansion or check the main office room, walk straight up stairs.
Edit; I’ve noticed you’ve still got Cubans/Haitans/Love Fist/Biker Contact left on your legend, they’re side missions that need to be done before you can do the final mission if you haven’t done so.

I finish all missions on map and 2 Print Works missions and i don’t have Last Mission.
Instructions:
1.
Complete all of the specially marked story missions. Story missions are scattered throughout the city and are labeled with a pink marker. When you stand next to these markers the name of the mission will appear above you and you can choose to accept it or decline it. Nonstory missions appear with a gray marker.
2.
Complete five “Asset” missions.” These missions are scattered all throughout the city. These missions will be marked with transparent dollar signs and will give your character a steady stream of cash.
3.
Buy the “Print Works” building for $70,000. It is located in Little Havana off of the highway.
4.
Complete the mission called “Spilling the Beans” that appears after you buy the Print Works building. You will be instructed to find information down at the docks. This will unlock another mission.
5.
Complete the “Hit the Courier” mission that appeared at the Print Works building. The mission will have you follow and intercept a person who is holding counterfeit plates. Once you complete this mission the final mission will be unlocked at your mansion.
6.
Walk to the pink marker outside your mansion to play the final mission.

As far as I remember, The final missions are available once you have completed all of the missions for all the various assets: Boatyard, Print Works, Sun Autos, The Malibu, Kaufman Cabs, and Film Studio. Once you get a message saying “blank” asset completed, it should be enough for that asset. For the Boatyard one, you must get into one of the two boats there to start the mission. Hope that helps.

Just wonding whats the best way to view blu-ray downloads on my HD tv. I’ve a new PS3 which i use to play my purchased Blu-rays.
I dont have a Graphics card with HDMI so cant conntect it that way..

there is a program (with some russian name if i remember correct.) that lets you connect via the internet to your ps3 and you can move what ever files you want over there. You can also do this easy with Vuze.- But the point of what files it will actually play from the HDD(ps3) i have no clue of.

Install Twonky, Delete the crap sources and copy your newly liberated files to a shared folder (Or set the program to output to one)

the problem is that VGA is analog while HDMI is digital, meaning there is always the chance of quality loss when using a VGA cable, this is not the case when using HDMI, cause with digital you have 2 options: it works, or it doesn’t,

Vga does do 1080p and you will see little to no quality difference between it and hdmi as long as you’re running the signal short distances (less than 10ft).
Mkv2vob and a nice external hd is a great option though.

Windows 7 loader by Orbit and Hazar. This only works if the system hasn’t detected your key though. So you have to reinstall.

What I’m trying to say is, your OS is pirated or didn’t have its key inserted.
So MS will flag some information to your system to lock you out if you tried to update it.
