Well, I’m going to my local library later to use their (free and fast) internet to download Fallout 3.
I don’t want to have to put the links in manually, since I need to get some work done whilst I’m there (essays etc.)
Whats a good download manager that will work with rapidshare (i have a premium account)?
Basically, I just want to copy/paste all the links into the manager and click “start”.
I tried IDM and it just didn’t work
Answer #1
I use speed download, but im on a mac, not sure if there is a PC version. Also using local library to dl illegal stuff…..not sure if you have thought that one through.
Answer #2
I am copy and pasting this from an either of my post.
Here what I use, download Flashgot, and orbit: Flashgot
http://flashgot.net/
Orbit http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Download-Managers/OrbitDownloader.shtml
Then go to Rapidshare --> Login ---> Click on "Settings" (its underneath the rapidshare logo, looks like this Premium Zone | Settings | Remote Uploads) ---> Then check the box " Direct downloads, requested files are saved without redirection via RapidShare"
After that go download something. Find what you want to download. Highlight all the links. Rightclick on the highlighted links -----> Flashgot Options ---->
Orbit. Window pops up with your links, then click "ok".

Trust me, they don’t care/notice.
Their plan is unmetered and I only go once or twice a month.
Thanks for those links , I’ll check em out

Are you sure you will be able to install any programs on there computers? I’m sure your on a limited account, other wise you could do damage too there network, so I think you wont be able too run the install. Try getting a DL manager that is a lite version and it will run off your memory stick!

Just curious to know why the filesize is so small. Does they have some parts of the movie cut in those?
I am a bit confused. Thanks
Answer #1
Just cuz it is 720p don’t mean the quality is any good, lol. That is just the resolution of the video =/
Answer #2
nope
you get the whole movie
a 720p is normally x264 video codec which is better quality than xvid so you can encode in a larger frame size and keep better than xvid quality of the same file size
BOB use to do good 720p TV shows that were the same size (350mb) as xvid encodes but twice the quality
Just cuz it is 720p don't mean the quality is any good
but don’t get me wrong, it’s not as good as a 2, 3 or 4 gb encode
Answer #3
They keep the resolution size the same, but hack away lots of bitrate. (details/quality)
Answer #4
Alright, thanks for replying. I am changing all my movies to 720p so just wanted to ask.
Answer #5
Just a note, increasing the resolution does not increase the video (bitrate) quality. The quality also does not increase when you increase the bitrate in a video converter.
Answer #6
increasing the resolution does not increase the video quality.
not true IMO
a 720 frame (1280×720) does not need to expand to cover a 1280×720 TV screen so it carries more image info than a 640×360 or 720×404 frame that needs to expand it’s self and interpolate the missing info
a 40 minute 350mb file that’s 720p looks better to me than a 640×360 (360p?) or 720×400 (400p?) one, if it’s done right using extra passes during encoding (like BOB did when they were around)
(BOB = BEST of BOTH – good quality, small size, is/was a release group)
and .MrPhill, some uploaders are labeling 720x*** files as 720p, and they are not
a 720p encode will be 1280 wide by whatever 1280x***
the height of the file is determined by the movie’s aspect ratio
Answer #7
Yes you need to be very careful with these as like said above some are labeling them by the horizontal ratio and not the vertical one lol. I was looking for 1080’s and nfo says x 800 lol. Also some are just using the source as reference, regardless of what it’s converted to.
Answer #8

It’s still 1080 but it’s ultra widescreen.
OT: Filesize is reduced by lowering the bitrate of the video and audio. For a 700mb 720p rip I’d expect the Video bitrate to be around 2500 and the audio to be 160 KBps. A high quality rip will probably have 10,000 video bitrate and 5.1 lossless audio.

Got the best rips
Answer #10
If you’re playing the 720p rips on a TV they’ll look very good, but if you watch 720p rips on a laptop/computer it wont look that good.
I dont know why, but thats just the way it is. Most of my movies are now 720p rip’s, but in great quality (2-3gb) and I have 1 or 2 1080p rips (6-8gb)

Dear All,
Just wanted to know if there is any difference between an “ipod” & “the ipod that comes with an iphone” in terms of sound quality or some other features. Reason i am asking this question is i rem some friend of mine told me that the standalone ipod sounds better. well..i did not get a chance to verify that. so, may be u guys can answer this better.
Thanks in advance,
Troy.
Answer #1
I have an iPhone and an iPod Nano.
The only difference I’ve felt is that, due to the iPhone being a phone, it lasted a bit shorter even compared to an iPod Touch.
There shouldn’t be any difference anyway.
Answer #2
The only diffrence is the speaker. The iPhone speaker is better then the ipod touch speaker
Answer #3
The only diffrence is the speaker. The iPhone speaker is better then the ipod touch speaker
If you want to listen music, and want quality, you’re not going to use the speaker anyway
Answer #4
thanks a lot for the replies guys…
@ >> u r correct buddy, wont be using the speaker much…i will prefer the stereo headset for enjoying music.
anyways i got my answer..there aint any diff in terms of sound quality betn a standalone ipod & the iphone-built-in-ipod…thanks again.
@Mods/Admins > Request you to kindly close this thread as its solved now.

my friend requires help with data recovery. from what it sounds like its a pagefile related issue due to it detecting the drive but when he goes to open it, it wants him to format the drive.
he cannot afford to format the drive as it has 12yrs of business records backed up on it and irreplaceable family pictures (that he luckily backed up a few mths before his house caught fire while he was at work and his kids at school).
was wondering what data recovery software you guys recommend for this type of job? theres about 100GB of valuable data hanging in the balance and i dont want him unnecessarily blowing money on a data recovery service unless absolutely needed.
all help from you guys is greatly appreciated
Answer #1
FYI, This has nothing to do with the pagefile!
What you’re describing is a file system corruption, This is usually caused by a failing HDD, Virus or disconnecting the HDD without safely removing it first (If an external)
Your friend should get his HDD checked out with the following app in order to determine if it’s in good health:
http://www.google.com?t=14769892&start=0
Now before I answer the main question, I’m gonna point out a few basic facts about data recovery which you should be aware of:
1. Data is only recoverable til overwritten (Replaced by other data)
2. Due to #1, You cannot recover the data to the same HDD or Partition it was deleted/corrupted from! (As doing this will render it completely useless!)
So basically, If it’s doable, Your friend would gotta have another HDD (To recover the data to)
There is simply no way around it! Anyways, I recommend this data recovery app;
http://www.google.com?t=18461279
Have your friend do a long scan (And choose No when it asks if to search for deleted files) and if it manages to find his data (And he doesn’t have another HDD with enough capacity) then he’s just gonna have to shell out money for one in order to get the job done!
For your friend’s sake, I hope things will go well!
Set all that aside, You should really remind him that no HDD is bulletproof and that any of em can go bad at random (Which is why it’s important to maintain regular backup into an external HDD using a backup app, Online backup can also be used as an additional measure) Overall, Maintaining backup is significantly cheaper than professional data recovery, So it’s well worth it!
Answer #2
Roberto: i read on a few sites that it could be the pagefile, but not for sure…
thank you for the suggestion. gonna try this out for him in a few hours when i go over to see him
have a great finish to your weekend!

Hay all, just wanted to start returning the favor of many dvd’s downloaded and now I would like to share some of the dvd’s I have.
What is a good perogram to use to Rip DVD’s to AVI’s? I know alot of the DVD’s I download from here are in that format and I use ConvertXtoDVD to rip them to disk.. So, what a good program to use?
Answer #1
http://www.google.com?t=268853
Answer #2
^^ lolz I was about to post that. So yeah go for that, it’s better than those, automatic ripping programs.
Answer #3
Thanks alot for the help!!
Answer #4
that tutorial is nice but i like to use dvdfab. its much simpler and requires fewer programs. dvd goes straight to avi. then you just hit up the winrar and rapiduploader.

As the title states I’m completely new to this and appologise if this is covered elsewhere.
I recently managed to download a film and used an old Roxio program, 6 I think. It’s been a while since I have done this and never had a problem before.
I tried to write it onto a disc. I kept getting the same problem where it stated the file was too large for the disc, I do not think this is the case.
Anyone recommend a solution or better program to use, would I have the same problem if I downloaded a later version of Roxio?
Any help would be much appreciated
Answer #1
are you trying to burn to DVD? If so, the file may state 700MB but when it needs to be converted to vob, it needs a larger size. If its CD then be sure its less than 702MB in size. You can try Convertx to dvd if your burning DVD moviez
Answer #2
Thank you I’ll have a look for Convertx to dvd

does anyone know how to fix this problem, i’ve tried reinstalling
i’m used to firefox and i don’t want try another browser

Answer #1
did you uninstall FF & reboot before reinstalling ?
Answer #2
is it some kind of add on ?? if so have a look in there and see if you can delete it
Answer #3
FF is not reading the entire css sheet of w-bb …. nothing to do with FF , it simply stops loading the stylesheet , that may be due to a connection problem from the W-BB Server through your ISP to your local pc …
Answer #4
is not just it does this on every site, but not all the time, it usually fixes it’s self after i refesh the page, but still quite annoying
Answer #5
better reinstall or disable addon .
Answer #6
i said i already tried that in my opening post…
Answer #7
even though you uninstall in windows control panel. there’s still leftover folders scattered throughout the OS for firefox. need to completely get rid of all of the leftover folders to get rid of the problem with FF or at least eliminate it being the problem. also make sure you are deleting all your addons. try uninstalling with REVO uninstaller. you can download the free version here:
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
As Ed said, make sure you reboot after uninstalling and before you reinstall. If that doesn’t do the trick, run a scan with malwarebytes.
Answer #8

Still having this firefox problem? and it does that on every site? hmm.. It could be a dns problem that I read somewhere. You could try using opendns or google’s dns instead of your isp’s default dns server. Try that first and see. opendns.
Have you tried the usual things.. probably eh. -Clear the Cache and Cookies. Tools>clear recent history. Select Time: everything. Check cache, cookies…etc…
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/949407
-Start Firefox in safe mode to see if a theme or an add on is causing the issue. update add ons if so.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
-Create a new profile for firefox. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows
Well.. That’s the usually way to go to fix things with firefox.
Mine started crashing a while back out of the blue.. first time I ever seen firefox crash.. since using it in over a decade. Started firefox in safe mode after several failed safe mode start up crashes.
Finally went into safe mode and I updated the add ons and it fixed it. wheew.
Weird how it done that.. seems how that I did not update firefox or update or change any add ons before then.
Not the same problem as you but.. just saying that errors can happen for no reason at all. lol

Do i need a specific kind of disk for this? I made a windows 8 x86 a few months ago on some random dvd-rw disk and it worked fine. Bought some Verbatim 4.7gb dvd-rw yesterday to make a bootable windows 8.1 64bit disk but my laptop drive wont pick up the disk and yet my other laptop does.
ImgBurn says this at the bottom of the program.. Device not ready (incompatible medium installed)
Answer #1
Maybe it’s fussy and don’t like some re-writable disks..
Answer #2
Went an bought some new disk, still the same problem.
Answer #3
Will it burn OK on your other laptop or PC maybe..
Maybe burner is dying or just needs a lens clean.
Answer #4
I think it’s better for you to try to boot from a usb pendrive if your laptop’s motherboard supports it, besides you won’t waste the media for just one usage this way.
Answer #5
It boots perfect on other laptop, both disk did. my drive don’t even recognise it on this laptop.
Rung HP an they tried charging me £34 just for support on the drive, then tried selling me £500 pc.

I was thinking this but my usb drives are all taken, HDMI, mouse and keyboard (can’t stand laptop keyboards.
Answer #6
You can buy a cheap USB memory stick nowadays and use that to boot.
Discs are outdated.
Answer #7
You could put your Windows ISO onto a USB stick using Rufus.
Why not Windows 10 ?……I thought 8 was a bit of a lemon.

Yea i’m trying to do this now, just found my 32gb recovery usb that came with the laptop but i deleted the partion and installed windows 7.
Will the usb work same as a disk? i don’t need to keep it plugged it forever? or is it just for the install.
I don’t trust 10 plus it’s new so probably buggy as hell.
Answer #9
Just for install..You can unplug it when Windows reboots during install.
TBH I haven’t got exited about anything since 7 !
Answer #10
Installation went smoother than i thought, just gotta install new ram now and hope i don’t fry it.
I prefer 7 but 8 seems to run smoother on my laptop.
