I have a samsung cell phone that only accepts DRM files as ring tones. I searched for a while and can’t find a converter to ADD the DRM. Is there a way around this or to download DRM music files? I tried MP3, MP4, WMA, WAV and they all won’t work. I need to have a DRM file to set as a ring tone. Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you sure they’re DRM not RM ?
Because all I can find about converting is from RM to other extensions.

Yes they are DRM files. I can find applications to remove the copyright protection, but none to add the protection so that my cell phone will accept them for a ring tone option.

I have been looking for a good FTP program for Linux (specifically Ubuntu). I don’t really feel like spending a bunch of time downloading arbitrary versions and hoping they are good quality.
What I am looking for is something similar to FlashFXP for Windows.

To be honest this was the problem i ran into, and the best answer is: there isnt. I advise installing wine and use smartftp in wine.

you dont really need one, ubuntu is able to directly connect with ftp sftp ssh and many others if you use connect to server feture it should be under places. It will open it in a folder and mount it on your desktop as if it was a folder on your computer then you can directly open the files in any way needed

I have tried to put WMP10 on my PC but i keep getting the following error message:

Rapidshare manager is working file make sure u have new update and ur account is Premium inorder to make it work i had same problem i reinstalled it! and working fine now!

Well,I realised that Flashget and any other managers can’t download from parallel downloads if the file is resumed.Can you verify that via IDM or Flashget ?

Look… the Rapid gold is not going to generate the premium link or give you the Rapidshare account its just a fake application which has compulsion that you must register on their site… its upon you to register there or not…. but as per my suggestion its completely fake & that application doesnt work even if you register on their site…

I own a LG Flatron E2041 monitor having a resoltuion of 1600×900 and its supposed to play HD videos smoothly but its not playing it that way, i’d rather find it a tiny bit sluggish for which i cannot experience HD on it and i have no idea why??!
The same thing goes for my phone which is Moto X Play: Every video feels the same way and not smooth enough to be called as HD. Can some one please clarify what am i missing?

youtube videos downloaded using IDM at 1080p and 720p as well.. Sluggish as in i can almost feel the framerates which means they are not as smooth as they are supposed to be!

Update your graphic driver and don’t expect to have good quality from dowloaded Yt videos, no matter which resolution is, there are all compressed.

every video with hd does not mean it has quality. resolution is just a template for videos and quality is mainly related to how you fill it which is calculated as bitrate. so try a movie with 1280*720 resolution and have a size of 3-8 gb to see if same problems exists. if it does ; it is either related to media player you are using or IDM which corrupts videos somehow during download.
i suspect it is related to your expectations from every high definition video since it also happens on your phone. just know that quality of a video file mostly depends of bitrate , then resolution comes. i can encode a movie with a resolution of 1920*1080 and 100 mb in size at the same time by determining extremely low bitrate and you wouldnt even able to understand whats playing on that full hd video.

there is no valid explanation for that with the info given.
a video plays bad on a pc and the situation is also same on a phone but there is no problem at all on another phone.
i would look whats in common with the pc and the first phone , do you have any idea about it ?

For me The phone and the PC would play HD videos normally as if its a 480p or 360p, nothing bad. Everything is clear and NORMAL
what i’m looking for is the crystal clarity and smoothness that HD video offers, which i can see in my friend’s phone but NOT on my PC or My Moto X Play
Edit: maybe this explanation will help.. There’s two modes in MX player for Android,sw and hw decoder. Play a hd video on SW and hw and you’ll come to know what I’m talking about. In my case everything looks like what is played in SW mode and what I want is in hw mode but switching this modes aren’t helping at least in case of my phone

i already told hd does not mean crystal clarity and smoothness like it is advertised when it was first out.
1600*900 simply means 1440000 pixels which you can consider as small dots , quality of video mostly depends on how you fill with those dots. if you add 1byte per sec per dot for example , hd video becomes ridiculous but if you add 1kb per dot per sec it may become amazing. i just gave the numbers random to tell the logic behind the quality of the video.
i m not familiar with smart phones and their models but if a screen has a good pa type such as IPS , it may display a video better than its counterpart model with a basic pa type such as TN. in addition if 2 display have same maximum resolution , for example 1600*900 like in your case. the smaller one in terms of size will display it better due to higher pixel per inch density. so yes quality of a same video can be far better on a tiny phone with a high max resolution compared to a monitor but it will be small at size.
or lets consider 2 identical monitors with max resolution of 4K , same contrast ratio , same refresh rate , same response time , same pa type etc… with only single exception ; one is 28 inch other is 32 inch. smaller one will display any video better than bigger one in terms of quality due to their pixels are stacked in a smaller area and more dense. but the difference may vary person to person.
can you find a movie with 1.5-2 hours run time , and has 1280*720 resolution with the size between 3-8 gb ? try it and tell if you experience the same thing so we can understand if they are related to videos or you are a little obsessing about quality with high expectations.

yes , it is fine , it is related to cam which movie is shot at and they are considered as 720p even if they dont actually. anything with 1280*500+/720 would be ok.

536 would actually be 720p as the encoders don’t bother to encode the black bars on top and bottom that you get because the film would be in cinema aspect ratio..
So remember that 1280 horizontal is 720p and 1920 horizontal is 1080p.
Would have been less confusing had they quoted the horizontal figure as resolution which appears to be the case now with 4K !
(4K is approx 4K horizontal not vertical)

Maybe because it has a slightly better gpu than Moto X? Try vimeo for videos too.

Update: I downloaded a software namely Smooth Video Project and after installing it is giving me exactly what i’m looking for: Smooth playback of ANY HD videos utilising the GPU, i bet it had something to do with frame rates

Ah, so you were looking for high framerates. Movies are in 25 fps (pal), or 30 (ntfs), high framerates are usually a trick done by modern TVs, to kind of blend the frames into looking like it goes at 60fps, 100 fps and so on. That has nothing to with HD, HD is the resolution, not framerate.
Only one movie series was made in 48fps, The Hobbit, and that was only for the 3D version

But yes, SVP does a pretty good job at smoothening vdeo to higher framerates, same as modern tvs, even though it causes some ugly artifacts in the video aswell, not perfect.

frame rates have nothing to do with what you said. frame rate of a video is static and can not be changed with the media player you are using. if there is a frame related problem , it is universal. gpu rendering are enabled by default on most video players and recommended , it shouldnt cause any problem unless there is either a bug related to media player you are using or the gpu drivers you have.
you problem is probably related to perception not an actual thing. there is 1 more thing , if you had installed more than 1 codec pack and such which do not stack with each other ; it causes lag or frame jumping like you had mentioned. klite codec pack bundled with media player home cinema is by far the best among all options. it is the only thing you will ever need.

Some do frame rates of 29.97 and not 30 so that could be why jittery.

Sounds like the OP had only seen HD video on devices that smoothen the motion, and thought that is how they are supposed to look, and when he saw the regular playback on his own device, he thought something was wrong. But that is actually how it is supposed to look movies are not supersmooth.

 Clear Motion Enhancement Model, which increases the number of frames per second and hence it is capable of providing much smoother and clear viewing experience. It simply without any effort converts 24/30fps to 60fps and therefore eliminates the blurriness associated with distracting motion.

i dont wanna upset you since you are really happy with that tech but it is just a fancy thing which is mentioned too much but can not improve anything.
it is impossible increase the frame rate of a video if it is 24 then it is 24. along with it , it is impossible to increase the resolution of a video or bitrate of a video. there are things which claim to do it but it is only artificial. a claim to increase a 30 fps to 60 by using something ; is same as combining four 1080p videos to create a 4k video.
there is another type of these useless fancy things , there are many tv with 600-1000 hz refresh rate around. actual thing is , there is no 600 hz pa available in the world and it probably wont be for the next 5 years. those tv just multiply refresh rate with their internal software i guess to create bigger numbers. since many people claimed it is far better , i personally tested 2 types of same tv one with 100hz other is 600hz. i didnt see the slightest difference while watching a movie , not even slightest.
so if you need to pay extra money for these kinds of things , stay away from them but if you dont need to pay and feel like quality is improved by using a software , feel free to use it. keep in mind there is no technology in the world which can increase the quality of video and they are money traps. there is 1 thing you can do , to buy a monitor or tv with a better pa , especially IPS. it also doesnt improve the quality of video but it shows whats available in a better way due to its higher color quality and accuracy.
