Can’T connect VGA + HDMI to laptop

November 9th, 2013

Hey guys,
I have a laptop with a VGA and a HDMI output, recently I got an old monitor and I wanted to hook the monitor to the laptop through VGA and my hd tv through the hdmi port. Now the problem is, whenever I plug in either the VGA or HDMI cable, the connection overlaps the other output.
Is there a solution for this?

So what you want to do is get the same display to show up on the laptop and HDTV that is coming from the monitor. If you have an Nvidia graphics card it will have settings that allow you to choose a single or multiple setup. The multiple setup will say clone which means you have the same display show up on several sources.

ed2010, is right you need to configure your graphics card. Have an explore around. You could choose the option to extend on to the multiple screens. I do believe thats under the screen resolution properties. I hope we have been of some help. If not then could we please have a list of things you have tried. So we could possibly suggest and alternative route
Answer #3
by overlap you mean the last one plugged in is the only one to display ?
is the lappy screen on as well ?
what happens if you boot with both attached ?
if fiddling with the driver ctrl panel don’t help it being a low powered video card may only do 1 at a time
try emailing support at your laptop’s website and ask them
Answer #4
It’s the physical outputs that overlap eachother. I can only plug in 1 at a time. I wanted to know if there is something that I could use to extend my outputs without being in the way of eachother or something.
