Bypass proxy speed limit

November 22nd, 2013

i use net in my hostel. i connect through a proxy server (on lan) to internet. proxy has a speed limit of 10 kbps per ip address. I have assigned three i.p. addresses to my lan card but still i am getting 10kbps. Can anyone help ?
Answer #1
I dont think it’s possible, since the speed you have is defined by
the server you’re connected to (- the proxy in this case).
It works in pretty much the same way as an ISP
defining a user’s connection speed.

VHORLON is correct …. it does sound like your LAN address has be speed restricted, (it could be done with your assigned LAN address or the mac address of your wireless card, or if the system is sophisticated enough even both). It’s a very simple thing to setup on most types of server and comonly reffered to as “bandwith throttling”
