Backup Wii games using Wii software…?

August 2nd, 2016

I have heard a lot of talk about being able to backup a Wii game using the actual console itself. From what I understand, there may be a program that backs up Wii games (the program is installed using the Wii homebrew channel) and then creates an ISO onto an external hard drive that you attach via usb…
Then it’s just a simple case of burning, as you’d do with a downloaded ISO.
…Is this true, and if so can someone point me in the right direction?? Or am I just dreaming…?

Not very sure about backing up using the Wii itself, but running games off the HDD is possible. I’ve loads of downloaded games which I am running of the external HDD with no issues. Got my Wii soft-moded (A friend did it for me), copied the downloaded games on a hdd using the following utility. Works like a charm.

Certainly, usb loader gx, and others, can do what you have described. No need to burn though – just run all your games from the drive. It needs to be formatted into the wii format with wbfs manager or similar first.

Yeah, you can use USB Loader GX to load your games from a USB HDD (Use WBFS manager to format your disk to wii format)
USB Loader GX can also dump games to your hard disk, and you can use WBFS manager to shrink the size of the game (It removes all the dummy files)

You could also use an USB thumb drive. They work very well if you can deal with the small number of games you can get on one. I usually can fit about 6 – 8 games on a 4gb drive.

Is there anyway you can explain how to do that step by step? Please, I been trying Imgburn with no results..it keeps saying that it can’t read disk. It would be great to able to do with the USB thumb drive.
Thanks in advance for the help…I REALLY NEED IT
