[Win XP] Unable to extract executables from an Archive.

I am having a strange problem, whenever I am trying to unpack an archive (rar,zip,7z, etc.) all the contents of the archive is extracted except executables such as .exe, .msi, .bat etc.
Can you help me about this, i have tried disabling my Anti-virus (Symantec) and firewall but no use.
You should uninstall ur anti virus instead of disable it. Than try it again and post results here.
I uninstalled the Antivirus, but same problem. I am still unable to extract the executables.
