how do you do a clean install with preinstalled op sys?

August 6th, 2016

i am going to do a clean install from a preinstalled win7 start op sys. i will then proceed to put in win 7 home premium. what is the best way?
i rather do a upgrade only because it might be simpler. but i read it might cause more problems. i have very little on the op sys now.

Answer #1
Theres really only one way to go , which is to format your C partition , You would be able
to do that via windows setup after youll boot from the DVD (Yes boot,Do not attempt to run the
installation via windows,Configure bios boot priority right) , If your hard drive is split to multiple partitions
then just move important data to one of the other ones and it will be safe when you’ll format your C partition
otherwise i suggest you back it up to DVDs or an external HDD
Answer #2
thanks – but how do one configure bios boot correctly?
there is no real data installed. just anti virus/internet security. just purchase the netbook (will get external dvd drive later today). because there is so little software on the netbook- i also wonder if an upgrade would be acceptable? good idea? or bad, bad idea?
Answer #3
Well i can’t give you specifics because its a tad different among bios vendors but basically you will have to find boot priority/boot device priority
and define your cd/dvd drive as the first device , I think you can also install win7 from a usb stick provided that you have one with the required size , You will have to google it
for more detailed information , As for the big question,It depends on whether your happy
from the OS performance or not , Some vendors add all sorta bloatware
Answer #4
Where did you buy it from? If it’s a big retailer like Currys or PCWorld there may be software installed that can restore it to factory settings and then upgrade using whatever media.
It’s usually found in Start > All Programs then in a folder named after your netbook’s retailer.
Answer #5
i bought it from amazon.com and it comes with a DVD for Win 7 start edition. that should restore it to factory settings. agreed?
Answer #6
Upgrades always make a machine slower, do a fresh install
Answer #7
i give up…help.
i have win 7 start pre-installed. i have win 7 anytime upgrade to home premium.
i cannot figure what to do next.
i just want to have a clean install of win 7 home premium. how is this done. i just don’t get it.
Answer #8
If you use the disc that came with the laptop (Win7 Starter restore) it will reinstall the OS to it’s original condition
You can then use the anytime upgrade to upgrade to home premium.
Hope that clears it up
Answer #9
i understand that part- using the disc that came with the laptop (Win 7 Starter Restore). but if i use the anytime upgrade to home premium- is that considered a clean install?
Answer #10
Nope , A clean install by definition is to boot from the OS disc
, format the C partition and install , Clean = Installing fresh
on a formatted partition without preserving previous data
