How do I fly a helicopter in GTA IV?

I am in the mission called “Paper Trail” where I have to follow a target helicopter. The problem is that I can’t get the helicopter to move fast enough and I end up failing the mission because I lose the target.

I saw the video but I was looking more along the lines of a description on how to get the helicopter to move faster. Is it the same as controlling a vehicle as far as accelerating goes or what?

press W to fly & to contol it press numpad 4,8,6,2 i think !

you fly like in every other gta, the same as vehicle controls, look at the controls in the menu they are easy. im honestly shocked as ive never heard somebody being stuck on gta O.o

I looked at the controls in the manual. R2 is for accelerate and L2 is for reverse. That’s what I’ve been doing and the plane doesn’t move fast.

their is no plane
R2 is for accelerate (that means UP in helicopter terms) whilst L2 makes you go down. left stick to tilt your angle to move forward. L1 and R1 to turn the helicopter around which mission is paper trail.<- nvm seen it
