[SOLVED]Shrinking a Movie
August 2nd, 2016
Thanks
I don’t think It’s possible..The movies already use their own compression..
Unless if you want to re-encode the movie with a lower quality..
Using Winrar wouldn’t help..You will end up with the same file size as the original file..
I use Brorsoft Video Converter, and it is really good. Obviously you’ll have to change the format, and resolution, but if it being “Ultra HD” doesn’t matter that much to you, you should see some good results. There’s loads of settings, so you’ll have to have a play around to see what works best for you – I can’t remember what I use. I know I did manage to nearly half the size of some of my videos with it though – obviously they weren’t HD anymore, but they were still very watchable. I’m not sure about getting 6 movies onto a single DVD though, unless you want to be watching them through a magnifying glass and don’t mind about seeing faces As says, there are limits. Once a video is compressed so far, no matter what you do it can’t be compressed any further.
Note: I actually got the software to convert videos to MP4 for playing on the Apple TV, so it is good at doing that too without loosing any noticeable quality.
You are trying to convert and burn the movies to a DVD that will play on any stand alone DVD player? When you convert them with ConvertxtoDVD or whatever you use , it will do the shrinking itself, so the movies will fit…No need to convert anything beforehand…and it creates menus and all else you need..
Don’t try and fit 6 full length movies on a DVD or the quality will be crap..about good enough to play on a 1″ screen!…Because the MPEG2 codec that is used with DVDs is not nearly as compressible as the x264 codec used with .mkv.
Two or three movies would be more reasonable though..
