Buy a domain name, or get a free one. You can get a cheap .com at 1and1.
http://www.google.com/search?q=1and1
Do you have the domain? Do you have cPanel (or similar) access to your website?
1. Buy a domain name,I highly recommend you use namecheap for this:
http://www.namecheap.com/
You’ll get 1yr free whoisguard protection too,However you’ll have to manually enable it after getting the domain,This is important,Otherwise people will be able to obtain your information by running a whois check on the domain.
2. When dealing with VPSs/Dedicated servers,Using DNS hosting is best as it makes migration easier if you choose to move
to another host later on,Sign up with cloudns:
http://www.cloudns.net/
Point it to the server’s IP than log-in on namecheap and change the nameservers to:
ns1.cloudns.net
ns2.cloudns.net
Now your done,Do note that DNS updating can take several hours up to 2 days,So the change may not be instant (on a global scale at least)
Edit: Few things I forgot to point out,If you wanna accept email’s for your domain,I.E admin@domain.com,You’d need to first set up a mail server (I.E postfix+dovecot) you could google for a guide,Or purchase a control panel from your host if you wanna automate it,After it’s all done on the server side,You’ll need to add an A Record on Cloudns for mail (this would end up being mail.domain.com),Then also add an MX record for it (containing mail.domain.com),These DNS records are essential,Otherwise nothing will get thru.
Cloudflare > Cloudns
i would suggest getting dreamweaver and find some great video tutorials ..
